Hello Elementers

I can't find spray paint version of my 03 E Sunset Orange. It seems to be a difficult paint to make in spray form(all other colors for the E are available) I remember being able to buy OEM spray paint at the dealership but not anymore. I went to a custom color spray paint provider but the manager said the paint consistency of this color is too heavy to spray from a can. It has to be sprayed professionally with a compressor. Any Sunset Orange owners have any advice. I need to paint some body panels to match my E. Particularly the rear spoiler, front and rear bumper covers. Maybe close enough paint from GM-they did make very similar colors. :?

If you are local to the Bay Area of Cali, you should go to:

San Leandro Color
555 E. 14th Street
San Leandro, CA 94577

They will have EVERYTHING you need to paint your interior. They even
have the ability to put whatever color you want into a spray can. I bought
two cans of Royal Blue Pearl for some projects I have done on the E. I also
got adhesion promoter as well as clear coat, all in a spray can. So if you have
a specific color you want, they can get it to you, all you need
is the factory paint code.

FYI, this is where paint scratch gets their paint from. So if you are local,
you can go directly to the source. If not, then paintscratch is where you
want to online like LMntGuy1982 said.

Good luck.

DuPont makes the color. The interior should paint fine but I'd be leery of painting the front bumpers. Some have had success with it but I haven't heard how it looks in the long run.

Thanks. I am in Nevada for now but I will be in SF by the end of Summer. I'll check it out. Maybe L.A. would have sources since I will be there for a bit before SF.

Thanks but this is for touch-up. I need spray can paint.
You need to input the info for your E before you can see the entire order form.
Once you put in your info, you will see:

Product Description Basecoat Clearcoat Primer
1/2 oz. Basecoat Paint Pen @ 14.95 @ 7.59 @ 7.00
1 oz. Basecoat Paint Bottle @ 14.95 @ 7.59 @ 6.50
2 oz. Basecoat Paint Bottle @ 18.95 @ 9.95 @ 8.75
12.5 oz. Basecoat Spray Can @ 24.95 @ 12.25 @ 11.50
16 oz. Basecoat Paint (One Pint) @ 90.70 @ 39.00 @ 27.00
32 oz. Basecoat Paint (One Quart) @ 132.00 @ 52.00 @ 42.50
128 oz. Basecoat Paint (One Gallon) @ 347.00 @ 145.00 @ 110.00

You can get as little as touch up paint, 12.5 oz spray can, or enough to
paint your E with 5 coats!!!

Honestly I'd take the parts to a body shop that offers a lifetime guarantee on their paint jobs and have them do it.

www.towerpaint.com will blend your color for you
They will even give you the option of adding the flex to it in case you're painting something with some play, like a bumper etc etc

hope that helps

spray paint for sop element

i have the same color element....dealer only had brush on touch up paint. it worked ok but never got a good color match with it when touching up hood chip marks.....finally had so many chip marks i had body shop repaint hood and it came out great....worth the money, depends what your touch up needs are. watch the area between the roof plastic panels and the roof metal between them. the area where the two meet can get chipped easily and i used the brush on to do all those marks. good luck now.
