Hi there, all you helpful people,

Please forgive me if this is a duplicate thread--I tried searching around, and I didn't see anything on this topic.

I'm going on a long trip and I would like a 2nd keychain thingie with the buttons that you push to lock/unlock the doors & set the alarm. I bought my Element used and it came with 2 keys, but only one of these little boxes.

I have heard that they are ex$$pen$ive through the dealer. I have also heard that there are cheaper options through eBay, etc. but I have no idea how I could make it work with my car. Do you guys have any knowledge about this?

Thanks all!

I'd send you mine (as I've switched to the all-in-one Ridgeline key), but, my wife's purse was stolen when we went on a trip and she now has mine. :-( Anywho, the ones on ebay, as long as they are from a reputable seller, should do you fine, they are VERY easy to program. It's in the Owner's Manual how to program the remotes if you have to replace a battery. Takes about 30 seconds.

Good luck and have a safe trip!!

The trick to buying one off of ebay, is to make sure it is the correct
FCC code. Since you one remote now, make sure the FCC code on
the new one is exactly the same!!! Before you buy one, make the
seller send you a picture of the back of the remote he/she is selling.
They will ALL tell you, "It will work with your Honda" without really
knowing if it does or not. The FCC code is the only way to make
100% sure it will!!!

Good luck, and have a great trip.
