Who here plans to modify their Element?

Just wondering how many people here are looking into doing aftermarket modifications to their Elements? Things like wheels/tires, lower/higher suspension, maybe painting the un-painted pieces to match the rest of the body? Anyone?

I want to get some rims, thats the only modification I want to make right now.
Hi I've had my orange 4wd ex for about a week and I did order some 19" wheels they are 7.5" wide and I got some 245/45's on the way too Les Schwab says they may rub in the back when i corner but well see. That tire size is almost identical to stock only a inch wider ill post some pix when i get the wheels. I guess i'll use the stock alloys for studs. I am looking for a lowering kit too so if anyone finds one let me know Thanks
hey dutchbros...

Post those pics when you get the rims. We'll all want to see how they look!

Post some pics of your Element too and we'll get you added to our member gallery on the site!
Could you tell us all more details about your wheels? I'm interested in doing something like that myself this spring. What brand are the wheels and what brand of tires did you buy to go with them? Did you get them through a place like "Tire Rack" :?: I hope that you don't have the rubbing problems, but please let us know how them worked out for you. Can't wait for your pictures too! Good luck :!: :D
DUTCHBROS...

Having lived in Ore. at one time.. and having dealt with Les Schwab... they tell everyone that kinda BS .. when it comes to aftermarket custom wheels, they don't know what end is up

So long as your overall rolling diameter is within a few inches of factory you will 100% fine... not to mention the fact that the rear wheels don't even pivot (steer)... they would have to be HUGE to rub

with the given dimensions for rubber you've ordered.. don't sweat it...

I've got 18's with 215/35-18 rubber on a CIVIC (much less wheel well room).... and I can't make the FRONT tires rub under even the hardest cornering

it's all a matter of rolling diameter (the car could care less when it comes to rim size ~ big or small when it's a clearence issue) ~ it only worries about rolling diameter
Frankly, I'm more interested in lowering the CG about 2 inches. If someone can develop some lowering springs that maintain the smooth ride I'm accustomed to, sign me up. This little car with its super rigid body structure could be a fantastic handling car with the right mods. 8)

yes please post some pics. I would like to see the element with wheels.
i am planning on leasing this car since i get sick of cars easily. right now i am really feeling this car. I think the only thing i would like to change is the system. I love music plus i live in NYC, we have potholes everywhere plus my woman will be driving it also. She is very careless
tommy.roks,

Living in NY, yeah, the potholes are a major concern.

We have had our Element for a few weeks now, and I gotta say, it is great for NYC.

It can steer you away from most holes, and the brakes are great. There is also enough clearance to get all but the biggest potholes.

I have only seen one other on the road here in NYC. It was going one way on the clearview, we were going the other. That one was the blue. The dealership said he has sold a few so far.
Can't wait to see the 19's. This car is just screaming for some dubs. Does anyone know of any after market panels in the works? I love the look on the Studio E with the painted panels. Or a carpet that fits the entire back of the car instead of just in front of the back seats? (Maybe shag carpet  )
hey all i know you have been waiting for pix ill post some by 2-18 by then ill have the 19s i ordered the newest style centerline in silver.
oh and if anyone wants to add a sub the E is way nice no rattles at all and ive got that crazy new jbl sub in a ported plexi box so it does go petty low i did put a clarion dvd player in it too with limo tint so i think im gonna add a rear camera for backing up at night cause i cant see a thing, just went to dark, and i guess Concept makes a nice 11" flip down tv screen ill probably install in a month so my little boy can watch dvd's or play ps2 ill post pix of that too when it gets done
Happy Motoring, Dutchbro
well les schwab says the wheels will be in on the 26th so i get some pix then centerline had to build them :(
I'm hoping to add splash guards, roof rack, fog lights, and a cargo cover. All in good time, I've only had my Element for 1 1/2 weeks.
im planing on getting rims for the summer and if i have the money i might paint the plastic fenders and put in polk speakers
i don't know what i was thinkin but you definitley need splash guards! I learned that the hard way . That water will shoot straight up at you so be carefull. :D
What does everyone think about putting on wood panels on the doors? You know make it look like a woody? I just wanted to see what it would look like, and how it would go on.
I think Honda should release a Woody Version... Wood-looking panels and a couple other little things ... maybe simulated wood-grain dash?
Make 1500 or so.... It's a fUN vehicle... explore it's potential.

Honda needs to shed its drab image anyway.
I have already put limo tint all the way around too. I put 50% on the front windshield just ot knock down the headlights at night. I am going tuesday to have an alarm system put in. I am getting the new Viper alarm with keyless/remote starter/alarm. The system comes with a pager that lets me know if my alarm is going off. I want to put tvs and wheel on soon too.
