Who knows what scooters will fit in the E?

I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha Zuma scooter and I wonder if it will fit into the back of the Element, anyone know about any scooter fitting in the back? Pictures would be great.

Sorry but I don't know what model ^this one is.

The Honda Ruckus fits for sure. Lots of E owners have carried motorcycles inside; see relevant threads. Can you get the Zuma's dimensions before you commit?

I'd have to find the picture on my phone or on the ruckus forums but I put my 2005 Honda Big Ruckus into my E. I have to loosen the handle bar screws and let them lower but once home I simply flipped them back up and re-tightened the screws and I was riding.

I'll try and find the pic on my phone and put it onto the forum but I dont know if I can do that from my iphone or not I'll find out.

Looks like a Vespa, based on handlebar/headlight setup and rear body panels.
My ruckus fit as well. I'm guessing the zuma would. Does it have threaded mirrors that come off? That's the only thing I had to do on the ruck'
Scooter transport? It's Element-ary!

Alright, which one of you did this?

Moved to this thread as it is already discussing the same thing.
for less than $300 you can buy a make a trailer from Harbor Freight and park it on that and tow it.
Just saw this in another forum:

"I also drive an Element (love it), looked at putting my Zuma 125 in there- not a snowball chance in hell, stands too high for it."
I haul a Honda Metropolitan in mine, fits nicely.
Thanks so far

Yeah, I know what the specs are, but that really doesn't tell me, with some diagonal finagling and the sort, if I could squeeze it in there. I'll check out the Metropolitan as well. I'm looking to "hybrid" my 100 mile daily commute by driving so far in the E and supplimenting with some 100mpg scooter action.
Downtown Dave, two scoots mentioned are great commuters, the Honda Ruckus and the Honda Metropolitan. Seems both will fit in the E with a bit of mirror or handle bar tweaking.
Now to my question. Will the above scooters meet your commuting needs from where you park the E?
Neither are known for breaking speed records and hauling stuff might need creative solutions.
However, both are 50cc scoots and as such might qualify for sidewalk/bike-rack parking. (depending on local laws)
Would you feel safe riding a scooter that has a top speed of under 40mph on your commute? Just something to consider.
I could recommend a scooter site that deals HEAVILY with the Ruckus but I'm not sure if that's within the rules here. (never read'em) I do know that a member here runs/owns that particular site. He lives in the Bay area of Cali...

ick

BTW. my Honda Big Ruckus IS my commuter in the non-winter months! My E is my Winter vehicle.

Man, I wish they still made the Big Ruckus. Being a big guy, I'd probably be taxing a 49cc Ruck pretty hard (especially up hills), so a 250cc option would rock.
Ruckus for sure:

I've got mine motor-swapped, first was 150cc, and now I have a 200-cc big-bore in her now along with performance variator and weights and Mikuno TM32 carb. 60+ not a problem.

Ruckus et al

Yeah, I want the Ruckus, but there are two things limiting that want, first, there doesn't seem to be an option to carry another rider in a pinch. I could envision a time when I would have to pick up a child from a practice or something. Second, my wife has only allotted a budget of $1000 for my purchase - which is the largest reason for not getting a Ruckus. They really hold their value.

I'm aware of the 49cc engine, and it's another deal with my wife - long ago, during our engagement, I agreed to not ride a motorcycle. My rationale for a small scooter is that you don't need a motorcycle license, and I would ride it in similar places that I would ride my bike.

I looked at Harbor freight at one of the hitch mounted carriers, but not sure about that either.

Were those latest pictures all Ruckuses?

Yes, these are all Ruckus scooters in the pics I posted. My buddy and I got custom seat frames, to accommodate a 2nd person. I'm sure you've checked Craigslist for some killer deals.
It worked great

I'll work on getting a picture up, but the Zuma fit inside the E with room to spare! I had to take the mirrors off, and turn it sideways just to get the handlebars in the back, but once inside it stood upright - I was even able to use the kickstand!

Now here's another question. It took two people, but I wonder if I had a ramp, could one person get it in or out?
Well I'd call that definitive! Thanks for the photo, PoltronG. I copied your post from the "Gas Prices Finally got to me! " thread.
Two PX200E Vespas will fit (with room for driver and passenger)

We fit two PX200Es in the back, with both rear seats taken completely out (I don't believe they would have fit if we had even had one seat flipped up). You need to take them through the side door as other people have mentioned, as the headstock is too high for the lip of the roofliner at the back window. It was a tight fit, we had to have the seats WELL forward. We could have gained a bit of room had we taken off the back racks, as they dug into the E's seats. You don't need to remove the cowls, there is plenty of room between the bikes. With the seats removed you have plenty of strong tie-down points for ratchet straps.

In this pic the front seats are folded up because we're getting ready to unload the "Official Vespa Chase Vehicle".

Pics or it didn't happen:
