I have a lead on a used 55" yakima cargo rack and fairing (also 55") Would this width be OK on my E? I have to drive to another town to purchase it, so I thought I would check!

Any bars 48" and longer fit. A wider fairing would work, though you might want to trim it to fit between the roof garnish.

What type of support towers does this rack have? You need 'Control Towers', which list around $160 for the set of 4. This is the most expensive component of a Yakima setup. Unless it was mounted on an Element, you still need to buy the adapters for the Element (2 x $30).

Ask them what kind of towers are on the rack. If they are control towers go for it. If they are others you will have to buy control towers like paulj said.
