I bought a 2005 head unit to put in my 2004 E and saw I need an adapter for the antenna. Do I need a xm reciever too, I assumed it was built into the unit?
Can I get code for the new(2005) if I have the serial number?
Can I use a roady reciever to hook to head unit ?
Any ideas, I'm tired of wires everywhere with my roady?

Welcome!!!

You will need the tuner, probably the wiring to the tuner and the antenna.
The antenna is totally different as well. It is powered because of the XM.
The XM tuner sits behind the passenger side rear wheel. Do a search, there is
a TON of info about putting XM into a non-XM E.

Also, just and FYI, Royal Blue Pearl wasn't available on the E until 08, and
only on the SC. If you have an 04, then you have Fiji Blue Pearl.

If you look under the bar code of the VIN tag on the driver's side door,
it will let you know. Mine is B-536P, that is Royal Blue Pearl.
Yours should be B529P.

Here is a really good link to check out!!! Has all the colors and codes, as
well as how to find your code with pics!!! Not to mention they are a GREAT
site sponsor!!!

Now you will also need to make sure you profile is COMPLETELY filled out,
and then you will need to post pics of your E, ASAP!!!!!

Enjoy!!

Are you talking about getting the 2005 stock EX head-unit?

If you are, make sure you get the Radio Code otherwise its a nice looking paperweight. Also, the XM receiver is a separate entity from the head-unit... like AR said, there are countless threads on that here. You will also need to get an antenna... Search the term "hidden antenna" and you should get a good thread on antenna placement.

Possibly, if you let us know exactly what you want to do, we can better help you to achieve that goal... we like Happy E's and owners =)
