I've got a line on a set of winter wheels/tires. Haven't gotten the size yet, but does anybody know if CRV steel wheels will fit on the element? What size they are?

Thanks!

Simple answer: yes. CR-V wheels are 15 inch, but the same bolt hole circle fits on an Element and 15 inch wheels will clear your brake disks.

More importantly, why? Do you have access to "free" 15 inch CR-V wheels? If not, buy a cheap set of 16 inch steel Element wheels from someone here on the site, or from a reputable dealer.

Just be sure to buy tall, skinny winter tires for them.

One tire guy I spoke to looked up the E's wheels and said they also fit the MDX, Pilot, and Odyssey. Didn't mention CR-V, strangely. (Hope the above is true and I haven't spread misinformation.) Anyway the E's wheels are reportedly 16" x 6.5", lug pattern 5mm x 115mm, offset +45.

Certainly true for the Pilot steelies. Same size and offset. Here they are on my E.

will CRV steelies fit?

This is a question I have been asking myself recently. I researched it and it seems that the size and offset is the same as the Accord wheels 15x6JJ OFFSET=55. Quicksilver was using Accord wheels with his snow tires.

I am doing the same snow tire thing with the same size (P215/75R15). I was confident enough to buy the rims and tires. I guess I will find out this weekend.

CRV steel wheels will fit on the Element

I just had some snow tires mounted on CRV steelies. They fit just fine. I kind of like the way they look. It makes the "E" look like some sort of oversized MATCHBOX toy.

The rims are 15" Honda CRV Series II LX type made in 2002. The rims are stamped J15X6JJ. I could not find an offset stamped on the wheels. It is commonly reported that the offset is 55mm.

The tires are Kelly Tire P215/75R15, Wintermark Steel Radial HT's made in Canada. According to the literature they have an aggressive "truck-like" hi-void tread design. Oh great! They were also pretty cheap.

For what it's worth, they have the snowflake on mountain symbol. When it snows, I'll provide a follow up report!

According to my tire books the minimun rims width for a 235/70R16 is 6 inches.
I ment that post as a "heads up, " but probably should have given more info. Yeah they will fit...but most tire manufactures recommend a 6.5" or 7" wheel for that size.

The 235 tire will have a mounted width a bit less on the 6"er than w/ the wider rim, which sorta defeats the purpose of buying the wider tire ( in other words...why not just buy a 225/75 or somesuch)

I was gonna put CR-V steelies on my E 'cause I couldn't find any E wheels in my price range (dirt cheap), but I wanted 235s. The 235/70/15 is very similar to a 225/70/16 in height. I later changed to a 225/70/16 on the stock alloys anyway....and am very happy anyway. Maybe next time I'll find either some E steelies or 6-1/2" CRV wheels.....

I got the CRV mags and put the same Kellys on the with studs but 225-75-15 and they are 3/8" taller and seem to work great. Broke them out today as we are supposed to get snow tonight.
