Hi, I just bought a 2006 Black element, yep, black... that's another story as Im sure its going to drive me nuts. Anyway, I told the salesman i wanted to inspect the car before the purchase goes through, he didnt have the car ready when i went 12 hours after they said it was ready. We did the financial stuff, trade in, etc, went outside to see my new black element right off the truck and OUCH, has 2 dings in the back door. He said, no problem, take it home for the weekend, and monday morning our guy will take them out, no problem! I said i didnt want the car. Couldnt do anything about it, my car was traded in, they had no loaner, and no other black element. I bring the car back, and the ding guy gets the dings out perfectly. The salesman though, after i said the plastic panels had major scratches on them, or gouges I should say, sprayed the clear coat spray all over the panels. Did I say the SALESMAN did this to my car??? he not only sprayed over filthy scratched up panels, but sprayed this crap all over the black paint, windsheild, you name it because he didnt protect anything. The car is now a mess. I bring the car in to service, and they order all new panels because the salesman ruined them, and they were all scratched and they did "something" to get the paint off of my car. Not sure what the something was, I asked them to use HD cleanse, but there are spider marks all over, and the front fender has scratches from a rock or something getting into a towel. Well, they also put in another ding, and another scratch, and 2 of the plastic panels dont fit right. Im bringing it back in again to have the panels replaced, and the scratch buffed out, though I may not let them touch it, and the ding they put in removed... how ticked off should I be??? At this point, I just want a new car.

You've got to be kidding. Service like that is something you might expect from the corner used car lot, but never, ever from a Honda dealer. As was mentioned in another thread recently, you need to take this matter DIRECTLY to corporate, NOW.

EDIT: Talk to Kalinka here at the EoC on how to get those pesky dealers to step into line and give you exactly what you want

Wow. What a sad story.

I agree with gladestrider. This problem needs to go directly to Honda Corporate--Now. This dealer is a loser or at least the salesman is a loser. If the dealership's owners had any brains, they wouldn't let the saleman perform body shop work for them. That sorta tells their story.

Do you have any friends or former classmates that are now attorneys? Maybe one of them can send a nasty letter to the dealer!

Ticked? I'd be fuming and demanding a new vehicle. Give 'em hell and let us know who this dealer is so that others may avoid it (or at least the dummy that trashed your new E).

here's another problem. I did take it to corporate. I called the 1800 Honda customer service number and got someone for my case. He never returns my calls. I have asked for something for all of this trouble, an extended warranty, but still they havent given me an answer on that - because now that they messed with my car so much, putting on new panels - every single piece by the way, new plastic on the tail lights, and head lights, and messed w/ the paint, I want them to extend my warranty. They havent even filled my gas tank for all of this! No one can believe that this was my "new car" buying experience. I look at my new car and get sick - Ive always taken excellent care of my cars, avoided dings, detailed them myself every 3 months - and now, I get a new car that already has 4 dings on it, and I didnt do any of them! not to mention a scratch down to the metal, and the paint all over the body of teh car. Now the paint looks like crap, they put some detail spray over it to make it look shiny, but I see swirl marks, and lots of superficial scratches. The dealer is Pompano honda in Florida.

Go back there and tell them you want a new car... period. Call them first and tell them you are coming in to do that, tell them you do not feel that the fumes are SAFE for your family and you are not satisfied with the delivery of this car and you will not take it back. No matter what they say just keep telling them you do not feel safe nor are you happy and this car is not up to the delivery standards, they had a CHANCE to make it right and it was made worse. You were willing to work with them the first time and you are no longer negotiating.
Make it a little bit loud and do it in the showroom and make sure you are speaking the the manager of the dealership, not the sales manager. Don't let them take you into a private office to keep it low profile. Don't yell and don't curse but elevate your voice loud enough that others in the show room will hear you.
It took me 4 hours but I did that same thing with a car with problems.

the title of this thread should be changed from "new car problems" to "dealer problems" because that is what it is.

So whats the dealers name, location, and the names of those at fault? We need to record this info so future owners or potential owners can avoid such morons and terrible service.

Uh-oh... Multiple repeat offender. Go pick up Kalinka and take her with you. They'll know the gig is up before you even open your mouth...

They are supposed to be an award winning dealership. Keep in mind that if you want to talk to the owner she is female and I hear that she is really bithchy. I have no first hand knowledge. Just hearsee. She does not drive a Honda as far as I recall. I think that it a Mercedes. Do not forget about the BBB. There should be a list of all the stealerships that need to be boycotted.

Actually they are VERY concerned with their customer satisfaction ratings. They call asking for ratings 1-5 5 being the highest. From what I understand if they even get a 4 it is counted as a zero. Several people expressed how important that was. I think that the ratings keeps them award winning.

I do not know what is going on with that dealership but it seems that their prep is beyond bad. They miss stuff and just go through the motions.

I thought that mine was a total fluke but.. apparently I was wrong.

Did I forget to mention that the job that was supposed to be done in 1 day, putting on new panels and getting the spray paint off of the entire body of the car, took 5 days to do !! I would call when they said it would be ready, and they would say, oh, it may take another day or 2.

Not necessarily so. The E came off the TRANPORTER with dings in it and possibly the scratched panels as well. Honda hires the transporters and is as responsible as the dealer for its condition IMO

Re: new car problems/pompano honda

I just got off the phone and heard the story from this unhappy owner who also is a woman by the way.

The actual story is REDICULOUS. They did not allow her to see the car before the paper work and the delivery condition was really bad, filthy on the inside?? dings and everytime they "fix" it, it gets worse.

ALSO she asked me if it is normal for this vehicle to drive poorly at high speeds with constant steering adjustments.. the answer is NO.. however that is the way my car was delivered to me with alignment problems and thrown weights and god knows what.

This place does NOT NOT NOT prep their cars properly. I do not know what she can do at this point because it has already been titled but it really seems kind of funny that two people have a similar experience back to back like this.

How can they do this kind of stuff and have an award winning dealership with high rating customer service? Maybe because they kiss your butt when they are fixing the problems that never should have been there in the first place?

I guess it is a case of buyer beware but it certainly is a damper on buying a brand new car.

did they just re-paint your TOAD black and send it off again???
this dealer needs to see the collective might of the EOC-- bring the national meet right to their front door and protest the shabby way they treat their (women) customers

i think i would ask to speak with the sales manager. ask him if this is the way they usually treat their customers. ask him if he would honestly be satisfied if he was treated this way. tell him that you did a deal for an undamaged new car not a car that has been damaged and repaired before you ever took possession. your state may allow you a 'cooling off' period on any contracts you enter into. even if your state doesnt i think you may have been the victim of a misrepresentation of this merchandise and i bet a lawyer will be able to help you resolve this, but time is of the essence, as they say.

i think also that salesman should be looking for work in another field.

LOL could you imagine a giant convoy of Es driving into the parking lot of this dealership with a bunch of pissed off EOC memebers... I think that perhaps Kayakin Dan swinging a paddle around would be a nice touch and .. well then we send IRV in..

 IRV is closer to being like Mr. Rodgers than to being like Chuck Norris. But thanks for keeping
the myth alive.

I looked at their website.....with minimal digging there's a link to "Contact Us." We could gather together to bombard them with emails insisting that they take better care of their customers (or whatever specific rant/threat/instructions/etc. we deem appropriate).

Actually in the final analysis they treated me well. I think that it is more about them not doing proper inspection and proper preparation of vehicles that they are selling. They want to get you out the door with something no matter what is going on with it. Really bad alignment and weights thrown, dings scratches and dents should all be caught BEFORE they let people test drive a car and before it is delivered.

So that's the specific information with which we bombard them--that their sloppy prep work is becoming widely known and they need to fix the problem, which includes replacing faulty or damaged cars that were delivered to the customer without proper inspection and prep. As well as encouragement to improve their record of catching problems BEFORE delivery.

I'm in Oregon, so as much as I'd like to join a fleet of E's descending on them to protest, it's a bit of a fur piece to drive! :|

Hmm, 11,000 members, maybe 1,000 emails from "active" members...I don't know about the legality of it (defamation and all that). OTOH, if someone later walked in and said, "By the way, I'm a member of the EOC," maybe they would tread lightly and do what they were supposed to do in the first place.

Kalinka's suggestion of a convoy of E's is quite a visual. Now, if there were a St. Louis dealer who deserved the treatment, and if all the E's happened to be in town for the national, wouldn't that be a statement?!

Sorta like Hell's Angels, but our weapons are an angry look, some sarcasm, etc.
