Does anyone out there have direct experience with the Outback AWD as it compares with the Elements'. I'm looking to buy a new Element, as the interior design elements are something I've been looking for for quite some time, but am a little concerned about the AWD system. In reading some of the threads I see where some people use chains in the snow and seem a little relunctant to push the vehicle very deep onto unimproved surfaces. I currently drive an 01 Outback and for all its shortcomings (lousy entry and exit angles, smallish cabin, the boxer "thrush" etc), it is an absolute foul weather beast. It grips pavement in both rain and snow unlike any vehicle I have driven, and although you'd never think you were in a CJ 5, you can certainly crawl it up and down alot of fairly unsavory dirt/fire roads. Any insight that anyone can offer is most appreciated, and I apologize if this subject has been covered in previous threads.
