I received a noticed today from Transport Canada about a recall on Rear Frame Stiffener Corrosion for 2003-2010 Elements. The dealer will check it and repair it if not possible the dealer will offer to purchase your vehicle. The price will depend on usual factors plus a bonus amount over the estimated valu.

Do you happen to have a copy of this letter? I went to the Transport Canada web site but couldn't find anything related to this recall.

So, my 2003 Element is originally an American car but has been here with me in Canada for 15 years. I called my Canadian dealer about this issue, and they had no idea about it. They suggested I call American Honda, which I did. American Honda ran my VIN and told me there are no current recalls on my vehicle. They said that only "some" of the 2003 Elements may have been affected by this notice, but I find it hard to believe that my 2003 has any different frame setup than all the other units are affected.

If this notice covers 2003-2010, it sounds to me that they were all built the same in the suspension area, so I'm wondering why Honda thinks mine could be different.

I mentioned to the customer service agent that while I accept her answer, I will continue to drive the car and hope the wheel doesn't come off...
