Strut assembly p/n disparities

Here's a puzzle.

For most years, the part numbers for complete strut assemblies follow a consistent pattern. Putting aside the fact that there are always different numbers for left and right sides, they break down like so:

2003–05 front (2WD and 4WD the same)
2007–11 front (2WD and 4WD the same)
2003–05 & 2007–11 rear, 2WD
2003–05 & 2007–11 rear, 4WD

Then there's 2006. Not only does that model year have unique numbers for both front and rear, the front parts are different for 2WD and 4WD.

So what makes 2006 so special? And which parts interchange among years?

The numbers:
Code:
2003–05 front, 2WD & 4WD
51601-SCV-A14 (right)
51602-SCV-A14 (left)

2007–11 front, 2WD & 4WD
51601-SCV-A17 (right)
51602-SCV-A17 (left)

2003–05, 2007–11 rear, 2WD
52610-SCV-A03 (right)
52620-SCV-A03 (left)

2003–05, 2007–11 rear, 4WD
52610-SCV-A13 (right)
52620-SCV-A13 (left)

2006 front, 2WD
51601-SCV-A21 (right)
51602-SCV-A21 (left)

2006 front, 4WD
51601-SCV-A31 (right)
51602-SCV-A31 (left)

2006 rear, 2WD
52610-SCV-A21 (right)
52620-SCV-A21 (left)

2006 rear, 4WD
52610-SCV-A31 (right)

You on vacation Dan??? Bored at home???? Or maybe, just one too many trips into the spray booth????

I'll try, but use aftermarket as a guide, 03 thru 06 remain the same for the fronts. Model years 08 thru 11 are the same for the fronts. The rears remained the same thru all model years. I think Honda might have added a flange here, bolt for ABS their, but I do know for a fact that on my 08, the right front strut coil starts off in a different spot, something to do with chassis weight,??? IDK but I would even go as far as to say that all left struts are the same, the right strut is different from MY 08 and up because of this. Unless of course we are starting a joke thread???

I got one, A pirate walks into a bar, complete with eye patch, wooden leg, cross bone hat and a steering wheel sticking out the front of his pants, the patrons clearly think this man is insane, so nobody bothers him. Finally the bartender asks him "hey doesn't that steering wheel sticking out of your pants bother you"??? The pirate turns to the bartender and says "ARRRRR it's driving me nuts"

I seem to remember honda made a change, and had a tsb on them saying on the older stuff (up to 06 or 07 cant remenber:shock:)that there was a change and the old stuff was superseeded but the newer units witch had the springs would different.so you have to change them in pairs as a full assy.(witch is the right way to do it) but my wife got wacked and folded the strut over.but the body shop only changed the one that was bent.even though the insurance co approved the changing of both. I looked at barnardi's site and the parts list nolonger says this as it did in the past.does any body know or remember where it is ritten in honda stone so I can show it to the morons at the body shop?:?
