I just called the dealership here and they said it would cost me $630.00 to have the car starter installed. does that sound right to anyone that has had one installed already?
Thanks in advance!

What brand of remote starter is it?

Honda doesnt make one for the E so it will an aftermarket unit......i'd say your better off looking around here to see what other members are using and what price to expect.

Like Lizzurd said Honda does not make a remote start. I would suggest looking at local car stereo shops. You should be able to find a setup that is cheaper and most likely installed better.

PS...Fill out your profile so we would know what state you are in to help you better.

Sorry about that. I live in MA. Near to Salem NH. My brother got me a car starter for Christmas, it's an Alert Remote Vehicle Starter Syster with keyless entry. Model 350R. Hope that helps LOL.

What kind of place should i look for? An example of some kind :)

Forget about the dealer.....find a local shop that installs alarms and remote starters.....the dealer doesnt do them....they call someone to come in and mark up the price that they pay to the installer.

Just open the phone book and look under Automobiles/Car Audio. I will warn that a lot of shops will charge you extra to install a unit that they are not familar with. If you brother bought the unit locally you might want to return and use the money at the car stereo shop to buy another unit they sell. Especially if you have a warranty issue later down the road on a unit they dont carry.

I will call a few places and see if they can work with what I have and if not I will give him a call and ask where he got it from and maybe send it back to him (he is in Florida). Thanks everyone for your help!

that's the price the dealer quoted to me too (but including the alarm & starter). I agree it can be done aftermarket for less and if it's not part of an auto purchase going to an install shop is the best way to go, but I did it through the dealer. it's their problem if it breaks on my new-to-me E. and they can't complain someone else did something to it.

I went to a local "Parkway" car stereo/tinting place and bought a Viper 160xvl
and had it installed there for $325.00 cash.
Which I thought was an excellent deal, looking online the unit itself lists for $300.00-excellent starter, supposed to have a range of one mile:confused:
Haven't tried to test that out yet:rolleyes:

One of the best things I ever bought for the wife, and then myself and my NBP.
Anyways,Good Luck!

Car Toys is the major chain around the Dallas area that installs car alarms and keyless entry. To install both keyless entry and remote start on my element it would run me about $200-250. Add in alarm and the price jumps $100.

That is for the low-end model.

They also said I would have to give up a key for the remote start to work. A spare key will run you $70-150 depending on where you buy it.

I gave them my valet key which they ground down at my request-for thieving issues.
I never use that key-as anyplace w/valet parking is too high fallootin' for me!
strictly for the "hoi polloy"
Don't want anyone behind the wheel of my NBP but me!
