I would like to install the large drivers side arm rest, but Honda claims it is incompatable with the manual transmission. Anyone know why this is?

Often asked, often debated. The answer is that Honda is being overly cautious that for small percentage of people it may interfer with their shifting gears. Not a problem for me. I have had my larger armrest in for months. Couldn't live without it.

Thanks. Of course I looked for the answer before I posted, and naturally I found it shortly after I posted, but I am gload to hear that it works from someone who has actually installed it. I will go ahead an order it... (still haven't made up my mind on the Wal-Mart vs Honda fogs lights... I am leaning towards Honda.. it may be $200 more from Honda, but that is still $200 less than what the dealer wanted.

I installed the storage armrest all by myself in my EXSSM4WD5SD! (I am mechanically challenged)

I cannot see why in the world Honda would suggest any problems with the storage arm rest and manual transmission.

To the best of my knowledge, the EX and DX front seats are the same. If you've got the "stick" arm rest, then you'll have the two holes the mount for the big guy screws into. (Make sure you have the 5mm hex key required)

I'm thinking of the large armrest for my DX manual transmission to put up one more barrier to the dog. Think it might help keep him out of our faces while driving? And maybe slow him down moving up to take our seats? He is a pretty big dog. Probably a minor obstacle?
