yeah, i wasn't really ready to buy a hitch until summer, when its the season to start pulling my jet ski, but i stumbled across this, and i was specifically looking for a 2" receiver so i could use the rear cargo rack also..

thought it was a hell of a steal.. so i bought it now.. a day later, he relisted.. so im just sharing the info.

uhaul sells them for like 130 and up.. then sales tax. any online seller starts at about 130.. then shipping... this was by far the hottest deal...

hope everyone that still needs a hitch scores up on this deal.. it might not last too long.

Super great Deal

Just ordered mine. Thanks for the heads up. To bad you're not making a commission. I also recently placed a deposit on the Sylvan Sport Go trailer and I'm in the process of preparing my E for our new arrival. Now on to the wiring harness. Anyone out there know which after market wiring harness goes with the 06 E? I am confused on whether to bite the bullet, use the Honda part or if an off brand will work just as fine. Thanks

I'll be ordering this weekend (after I get paid) assuming it's still there. Even if it isn't maybe they'll put another one up... I REALLY need one to transport Ye Olde Grille :D

Went to uHaul and found one!

Thanks for the tip, Built B16A.

Shame they're gone, but I just had one installed at my local uHaul.

Having recently struck out at various "professional trailer hitch dealers" who assured me that one could not find a 2" receiver hitch for an E, your post made me call the uHaul place (I frankly never thought of them for new hitches!).

It is awesome, 2", Class II -- although I will never load it more than the Class I trailer/tongue spec lest I damage me beloved E (and possibly hurt somein in thebargain).

In case other E folks are interested:

It is part #78258 (http://store.uhaul.com/hitches.aspx). Note I have an '07 AWD (non-SC). The web price was $129.00 (not as good as your eBay link), but way better than even class I prices I was getting locally. It appears to be identical to the one Valley Trailers makes. I just could not find a Valley dealer in my area.

uHaul gave it to me for $119.00 and installed it for $30.00. Lemme tell you, while it bolts on rather cleanly, if you don't have reliable lift or ramp and 2 big buddies helping, the thing is a beast to mount. The uHaul guy used this great fork lift looking thing that held the hitch in place while he bolted it on. About 30 minutes total!

It also has a lifetime warranty against corrosion, theft, accident, etc. not a bad deal.

Admittedly, I spent more than you ambitious types would, but I have no scraped knuckles and I know it's on right!

It is clean, strong, well-hidden, and now I have myriad 2" receiver options.

Moral of the story: E owners : don't settle for the limiting 1.25" hitches!

Sure it's a Class II? Last time I checked, they said they only made a Class III for the Element. Not like it makes any difference for the stuff we'll be hauling, I'm just curious :D

Ordered mine late on Friday March 14th. So didn't expect it to get shipped out till Monday. Received it Wednesday March 19th. Everything is as advertised. I am up in Canada and didn't get a bill with it so I don't know if I will see one later but normally they hold it until they get paid for fees and taxes so it looks like I might have gotten lucky and not have to pay it. 105 all in makes this a great deal.

Piece of cake. I balanced the hitch on my floor jack to raise it into position and then put the nuts on the u-bolt that went through the tie down loop. This held it up to where all I had to do was pound it into position with my trusty rubber mallet.

My only problem was that the four nuts that screw on the carriage bolts were apparently 18mm. In my eleven drawer rollaway tool box I don't have an 18mm wrench or socket. Forty years of working on motorcycles and cars and I have never needed one.

I've got one now.:)

That's the best deal I have seen. Got one on the way and also the plug and play wiring thingie. Also will install a brake controller. "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

My install

No problem. Be sure to have all the tools assembled and available. Grinding did not take long, about 2-3 minutes. A bottle or floor jack makes the install go quicker. Also dropping the exhaust pipe at the rubber mount makes the job easier. (thanks Brendan) Don't make my mistake. I was o excited to use the curly wire feeder I used it before mounting the actual hitch. The hitch needs to be in place first.

i wish i had a photo, but instead of a jack, and jack stands, i used those plastic ramps and backed up on them.. it was wonderful. i use them for oil changes, and it gave me plenty of room for the hitch install.

Yep. Doesn't everybody who changes their own oil have a set of Rhino Ramps? I got mine at Walmart for $29.
