Hi All,

Proud new owner of 2006 Element and immediately starting planning my camping adventures. I received a lot of inspiration from the platform mods here and wanted to share what we came up with...

I wanted a single person cot-style sleeping platform with room underneath for my gear and room on the sides for crash pad, bikes, whatever... That I could also easily fold-up and store in the way back if I wanted to put the back seats in. Came up with a design that is a two pieces hinged together, with folding legs for easy storage - and am lucky enough to have a master craftsman as a dear friend who took the idea and ran with it to create a one-of-a-kind beautiful Element cot! Have to give a shout out to winsunstudio Thank you Winter!!

The first piece is 42" long (which will fit bench style in the back) x 24" wide (which will fit behind the rear seats) x 14" high -- this one has sturdy legs that Winter outfitted with braces to make sure it didn't wobble. These legs also have eye hooks to connect it to the floor.

The second piece is a 24" x 24" square (also 14" high of course) - but has collapsible legs made out of plywood so they lay flat. This piece has a piano hinge hooking it to the table part so it can just fold over and lay flat when needed.

I wanted my head to be in the rear of the vehicle so I can look out the moonroof :) so the smaller piece is against the front seats. The rear legs have holes drilled in them for tying it down and keeping the hinges open. Total length is 5'6" and fits nicely just behind the front seats - I'm short, so this works for me :) - and there's a little extra room for my feet to dangle between the seats...

Doubles as sushi table for 8, massage table, great way to hide gear when the seats are up... :-D Stoked! Just in time to hit the road!
