Does anybody know if you can get door sill plates for the element that say "Element"? I was at the auto show and a lot of the luxury brands had these in their cars - probably made out of aluminum. I think it looks really cool.

I have been wondering the same thing. After one New England winter I have some serious scratches on the door sills from simply getting in and out of the car with salt, ice and sand on my feet. I would be satisfied even if they did not say Element on them.
By now I would have thought someone would have made a good tough "stick on" door sill plate.
I just picked up some industrial non-slip tape this weeked from Lowe's. It's the stuff you put on ladder treads and floors that looks like really coarse black sandpaper. I was thinking about cutting a few pieces and simply sticking right to the plastic. Traction & protection... can't go wrong!
Yes, I also bought a similar tape call "TrimBrite Safety Tread." The roll is 2" x 20'. I will probably eventually have my son make me some stainless or aluminum guards but the tape will work for now. My son made some nice stainless guards for my '99 VW Jetta and they really stood up well over the 5 years I owned it. (Just gave the Jetta to my daughter so I would have an excuse to buy an Element!). I expect we will soon see after-market sill protectors for sale on the 'net.
Nonslip tape (3M) is available in gray, and in several textures. I have found, though, that it does get dirty with use, and may be more difficult to clean than the Element's plastic.
