Thoughts and prayers to everyone in Hawaii today, especially on the Big Island.

A friend of mine has a home on Kohala Ranch on the Big Island and I had a fantastic vacation there in August. Fortunately, my friends aren't in Hawaii today so I don't have to worry about their safety. They don't know the shape of the house, however. Probably not unscathed.

I drove and rode a Harley on nearly every mile of the Big Island's significant highways. Stunning terrain, to say the least. Can only imagine the landslides and other road damage that has occured that will isolate communities.

I hope you all are well and wish you the best in the hours and days ahead.

hawaii

to all the E owners club member in hawaii, our thoughts are with you. cnn has stated that there are no reports of serious injuries and no danger of tsunamis. that, at least, is good to hear.

I have talked to my sister on the big island. all is ok with her. some stuff fell off the sheleves and crashed a broke. Trapped dust/dirt from the exposed beam ceiling fell down. Her quote "sounded like a train coming through" An this is from some one who lived in the SF bay are until a year ago. She said it worse than anything she felt in SF. Se also sai that the roof partially colapsed at the local wal-mart.

Is your sister in Kona? I've been to the Wal-Mart there which is near the highway.

Thanks for asking Hikerchick,
As far as I know Oahu is okay other than enduring more than half a day without electricity we are all fine....I am not sure about Kona and Hilo, I heard they had some dammage, don't know the extent though..cool.

Thanks all for your concern and well wishes. May our prayers and blessings go out to our Neighbor Island family on the Big Island and Maui. We on Oahu are shaken but ok. The Power outage was inconvenient but our hearts go out to our brothers, sisters and relatives on the Big Island where I have alot of family so far everyone is OK! Mahalo for the long distance Aloha.

Mahalo Nui Loa to the EOC

Well, power was just restored to the Windward side of Oahu; that was about 19 hours w/o electricity. Well thank goodness it wasn't like after Hurricanes Iwa and Iniki... That was really hellish!

Again on behalf of all Hawaii EOC'ers, thanks to all you well-wishers and to second what Naluboy has said, our thoughts and prayers go out to the folks on the Big Island, esp. to `ohana in the Kealakekua, Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa, and Puako areas. There was damage to roads, a few houses, and structures such as Kona Hospital, but no fatalaties.

I would also like to thank everyone for their well-wishes and thoughts of us. I also echo what Nalu and K-Dogg said. It's nice to know that the EOC is more like a family than just a club. Mahalo and Aloha.
hey guys and girls, keep us posted on how things are going for you and your families, please?

The news cracks me up!! Yeah the dammage was bad in some areas I agree but the way the news makes it look, it looks like there was alot of dammage everywhere and the islands are in dire straits...They are just milking it and it makes the news that less credible (not all news)...I guess when it comes to the media it is best to use discretion on what to believe....Hey I am not ungrateful and I thank all the caring and concerned hearts out there....Just had to say my piece....cool...Pray for the people that did get hit bad from this....Thanks EOC family...
