I'm somewhat new to the forums. I'm not an Element owner (yet), I'm just a "drooler" (and a lurker). I've got a gew dollars in the bank, and still need a few more to get my SC. In the meantime and in-between time, I'm glued to these forums, trying to learn all that I can.
Here's what I'd like to find out: Do we have any SC owners that drive on the interstate regularly? I commute 102 miles round trip for work each day, 4 days per week, and I tend to drive fast. I drive about 80-85 mph in my '01 Prelude while on the interstate. I'd like to know how the Element rides at these speeds, and any comments that owners may have regarding driving the Element at these speeds.
I am seeking observations about how the Element rides, how rapidly it uses fuel, if it feels unstable at these speeds, if it feels like it is gripping the road, or "floating", etc. Please respond with your Tire/Rim size, whether or not your element has modified suspension (and how it's modified), and what kind of transmission you have (auto-4, auto-5, manual-5, modified manual-6). I'd appreciate any additonal information that you'd like to offer.
I am not looking for lectures about how speeding is dangerous for me, and for you, and everyone on the road, and how it drives insurance premiums up, etc. I understand the risks, and will continue to speed regardless of your comments. I live in Florida, and going 80-85 mph in the fast lane on Interstate 4 is simply business as usual. I dont speed on surface streets, I dont run stop signs or red lights, and have no other traits of a reckless driver. I simply stay with the flow of traffic in the fast lane in an effort to shorten my commute.
I would appreciate any insight that can be offered by Element owners.
Regards,
Shizzo
