several peeps have been asking me about my platform so I'd figure I'd add to the platform list...

start with a stock interior and remove seats

on a side note, I added some non slip pads on the window 'sills' so that my dog could place her paws up there without slipping or scratching the panels. work great so far.

on a side, side note, that 'is' the oem table legs supporting my platform outside of the E.

platform works great as a table for supporting my 12v margarita blender...I mean protein shakes :)

home depot recycled bottles indoor/outdoor mat, cut to size. Protects my interior and easily removes for vacuuming/sweeping.

2 ikea antonius wire basket units hacked and topped with bed slates
= 8 sturdy, lightweight baskets with lots of storage and support the top wood sleeping platform.
Perfect for daily use, car camping, doggie day care, etc.

paracord and carabiners make handy handles for carrying a basket in and out of the rack, while shopping at the grocery store, home depot or otherwise. I've noticed I don't use plastic bags and more and it's very efficient for carrying items from store to car to house.

additional paracord and magnets prevent the shelves from sliding open while driving

front baskets accessible from behind front seats. also, I have smaller divider baskets from the dollar store to organize smaller items within each basket.

platform is a trifold plywood with piano hinge.

I cut notches on the rear corners to accommodate the interior plastics as well as drilled holes around the perimeter to secure gear or other items to the top of the platform with bungee cords.

paracord supports at the frontmost part of the platform. got the idea from the ququq camping box overseas.
Image

I have the platform at a slight incline since I've noticed that the platform lays flat with a added weight of our heads while sleeping.
Image

the paracord is slipped through a random ikea bracket that I scored in the 'as-is' bin.

It's actually just 2 inches thick HR foam I purchased from a local business that manufactures foam and fabrics. It's perfect for my needs and very comfortable and light weight. I just bought a 4 by 6 sheet and cut it to shape, then sewed custom covers with high end automotive upholstery.
The cushions ended up being a bit pricey but worth the money and effort for camping and getting a great night's sleep while on the road
