Hi, this is my first post, but I wanted to let you all know that using the Honda Ridgeline all-in-one remote/key works perfectly will my '08 SC. It was pretty cool, because neither parts department nor the service department thought it would really work. I found a woman in parts that was willing to give it a shot, though. She did confirm that the immobilizers are the same. Amidst all the confusion, nobody really kept track of the paperwork, so I paid for the key itself, and that was it!!! The key is bigger than I was expected, but still nothing compared to the remote and key combined.

Nice going! I have done both, the Ridgeline key and the TL flip key, but I am using the Ridgeline as the 'Daily Driver'!!! The TL-key is really too clunky for my likes.

....show 'em the EOC print outs!

Thanks for the compliments, folks. To answer your questions, the part number is 35111-SHJ-305. It should work for any '07+ Element. You just have to find a dealer that is willing to do it. For me, the Acura key seemed to be too much hassle for not that much gain. ORANGEE, I am in Pittsburg -- without the H! :)

Been runnin' with the Ridgie key for over a year now, LOVE it!! Keeps the pocket bulge to a minimum, and nice to have "just" the key to lock it up.

Welcome to the loony bin, we are VERY glad you found us...:???::twisted::p:p

Just a note here. I printed this entire thread and took it to the local Honda dealer. Based on the details here, they cut the key and programmed the Ridgeline key while I was there. $109 and about 30 minutes later it worked great. Awesome info and it's nice that I don't have to wade through 80+ pages of posts to get it!

Ridgeline key

I did the Ridgeline key mod on my 08 LX. I got thr key on ebay for $20, took the chip out of my valet key so it already worked with the transponder. I went to the dealer and got the key cut for $15....$35 total. As was said above, not one person at the dealer thought it would work. I honestly had to make them cut the key after about 30 minutes of telling the it would work and they needed to find out more about the product they were selling...I laughed at them when I drove off with my new key

Buy this Honda part number for the Ridgeline 35111-SHJ-305, have the dealer cut the key and program it for you. You don't need to rip apart a key. Have had mine for over 3 years now. And my dealer didn't think it would work either

post up how much the dealer wants to cut/program the ridgeline key. I have a feeling mine in NY will want 100-150 to do this.

So i have this under the steering wheel

Do i just look for the part number is 35111-SHJ-305?

is that all that matters?

most ebay sellers dont post this information so i asked like 10 different sellers for the part number.

any tips?

i went to a local shop and they wanted to charge me 76 bucks to cut and program the Key, they also wont believe me and wont do it unless i buy the key first.
The thing is that behind the key i only see the FCC ID number and some other number under it, thats basically the same as the FCC ID.
Where can i find the Part number on the Ridgeline Key?

sorry for all the questions but since i only Have 1 Key without the remotes i kinda need a replacement.

Peace

just got the key(35111-SHJ-305) but i didn't have time to get it programmed today, same as the previous posters, printed it out and brought it in. Neither think it will work but said if im willing to spend the 110 for install and 55 for the key they will gladly try to do it but if it doesnt work its my $165 key, also they said its the same price to program 1 key as it is to program a second so I bought 2.

hope it will work!

still confused

Video broken.

Took the 35111-SHJ-305 key and two standard keys to the dealership during a service and inspection.

Cut and programmed without a question or hesitation.
Note that with the Ridgeline key, there are 2 different programming actions going on here.
-Programming the immobilizer in the key to match the vehicle
-Programming the remote fob functions in the key to the vehicle.

There is a limit to the number of remote fobs that you can program and they all must be done at once. This do NOT have to be done at the dealer, though if you bring them all the other working remote fobs they will do this.

I don't know if there is a limit to the number of immobilizers that can be programmed for a specific vehicle.

They charged me $60 to cut and program both keys (remote and immobilizer) which I thought was very reasonable. This was for as many keys as I brought them. $120 seems excessive to me.

If you don't have one, it might be worth your while to get a plain slab key cut that will open doors and rear hatch but not start the car just in case you lock your keys in the car.

I think I read too many key threads and I'm confused. I bought this 07 Element used, and only have 1 original key and remote fob. I want to make a full Ridgeline style set (2 Master, 1 Valet).

1. I understand "35111-SHJ-305" is the correct blank key for the Master keys.

2. I understand I can program the buttons on the blank Master keys myself, or let dealer.
I had to replace my current fob once, so I have programmed a fob successfully already.

3. I understand the dealer or an auto locksmith needs to cut the blank Master keys.
How do they get the "pattern" to cut the key?

4. How do I get a Valet key made since it is a different pattern, and I don't have the original valet key?

5. Only the dealer can program the immobilizer chip in all the keys? No third party, or me?

less important:

6. Is here a "grey" Valet key in Ridgeline style? Buttons on key, not on FOB?

7. Will my current Element key and FOB still work? Immobilizer speaking? That would total 4 key/immobilizer/remotes. 3 Master, 1 Valet.

Help is appreciated.

There is some conflicting info on this thread. More than one poster said a chip needs to be removed from an existing key that starts the car. Obviously this means cutting into the key. Another says, this isnt the case. An ebayer says the remote can be self programmed but the immobilizer chip needs to be programmed by the dealer. Is this true? also whats the difference between this part 35111-SHJ-305 and a $4 key fob shell? OEM vs non OEM the only difference? IF the $4 uncut key fob shell works and all I have to do is remove the chip from my key, put it in the shell and take it to the dealer to get cut and programmed, that seems simple enough. Let me know if I answered my own questions.:-o

I've seen a few different types of keys sold on the internet for the Hondas. Some keys need a transponder installed into it to make it start the car. Some keys have the transponder molded inside so programming is a must.
Perhaps one of our local Honda Parts Specialists will chime in on this matter.

Type 3 and type 4 Immobilizer systems

Indeed I did some research the 35111-SHJ-305 will work for type 4 Immobilizer systems so 08-11 Elements. This will need to be done by a Honda Dealer with an HDS. For 03-07 Elements the 35111-SHJ-305 will not work because they use the type 3 system which is not a rolling code. Video to better explain coming soon.

Thank you for this information and video. So according to your video the Type 3 is used on '03-'06 and Type 4 '07-'11, correct? Someone posted on page 1 that the Ridgeline key worked on their '07.
