I used rustoleum's version because they offered it in gloss black.. took 2 cans. I recommend buying 3 and when you get to the last 20% of the can... throw it away! They start spitting bad. The finish is good. No complaints. Also the tires are 235-70-16 Falken wildpeak at3w. (They do not rub at all, factory suspension) just to rub it in... this is an AWD manual trans E.

Tires on wheels. Wheels off car. Removed weights and center caps. I did not paint the barrels of the wheels (i though about doing it) but the amount of effort needed to clean the barrels so the plasti paint would stick wasnt worth it. I also replaced all 4 rotors with drilled rotors (that i also painted with heat paint) all pads.. and painted the calipers and brackets black (heat paint). On the center caps i just did a light coat so you still see the H nicely.... the caps ended up with a smoked look.

Interesting....

So did you reinstall all weights, afterwards?

How long are they expected to last (best guess).

No longer able to go through automatic car washes?

I ask, only because I've considered doing this on our Element, Suburban and CB750's aluminum wheels, for the summer.

I marked the tires where the weights went with a sharpie... removing the weights without a weight hammer tool is tricky.. ended up using a flat blade screw driver... and it did nic the wheels up a small amount.. but its an element... not a brand new lambo.. still sucks.. but is what it is. That area of the rims have scratches from previous weights over the years anyway.. i reinstall the weights in the same spots afterwards. I wrote a number on the weight and the back of the wheel it came from just as an aid. Durability? I have no clue at all... with plasi dip brand you can do what ever you want.. its fine. My buddy has had plasti dip on his wheels going on 8 years now with multiple automatic car washes... this rustoleum's version is brand new... no one knows of its durability. However i did get the E up to 100mph (i give no ****s) the other day and had no peeling. Also i work at a dealership and we have an automatic (with brushes) car wash on our lot that i use alot... ive not used it since the plastic paint.. i feel its sort of grippy and the brushes might cause an issue... but i dont know... im thinking of spray waxing them to cut down on the grippy-ness. Either way il run it through and post back.
