Siphoning Gas With Gadget

I'm think about getting this clever siphon for moving gas from the Element to a gas can or generator.

Has anyone used one of these on an Element?? The E has a turn in the small filler pipe about 8" in and I'm not sure if the "pump" portion of this siphon would make the turn. It appears the brass pump is about 1 1/2" long, but I'm asking the seller for the exact dimensions.

Opinions welcome. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4550602452&fromMakeTrack=true

Don't worry Mike, I'm in Arizona and prefer big pickups.

Wow this is old. Our element is about to be towed away as a total loss after an accident and insurance. We had just filled it up with $50 of gas before this happened. We got a cheap siphon and gas can at Walmart, but we can't get the hose to even touch the gas. Is there a security measure in the way preventing it? Is there a way around it in the next 2 hours?

If you've got the receipt for the gas yet, tack it on the list of damages for the insurance.
Without looking at the parts books, I assume the gas tank has some kind of shut off valve in the top to prevent major leakage if there's a roll-over. Been thinking lately about snaking a camera down my filler and doing a short video "where does gas go?" but it's too cold outside. I hate Winter!
