OK, factory sub. bought off ebay. DVC.
Element LX - never had any of this. All new install.
Kicker DXA250.1 mono amp. 125 x 1 @4 ohms. Has 2 + outputs, and 2 - out
puts. Do I just use one set or both? Manual is not clear. Internet is not clear.

THANK YOU!

Looked on the internet. Several ways of wiring it. Don't know the correct way.
Don't know the factory Impedence. Or ohms.

This might explain it better. http://www.jlaudio.com/header/Suppo...bwoofer+Drivers/Tutorial:+Wiring+Dual+Voice+Coil+(DVC)+Subwoofer+Drivers/287544

Ok, which one? THANK YOU!

Curious, why would they include two sets of both positive and negative?
Soley to drive two seperate subs? Will each sub, if that is the case, they get
125 watts? That can't be right? - or, If I ran another sub, of the "spare" outputs
It would up the amps, due to a lower Ohms? Even if was 4 ohms alone?

Excuse me, but a bit confusing to me.

Thank you for any help that you can provide.

If the center factory sub is not adequete, can I add another 6 x 8 sub in the rear, off this same amp,
is what I am asking. That's all.

What is the advantage, or dis-advantage of a dual voice coil sub?
If it is mono - why would one need dual voice coils?

Just curious about this. The VAST majority of subs are sold with a single voice coil.

Just curious, if anyone can help out at all, here.

Car subwoofers contain a component called a voice coil. This coil is used to convert the input signal into sound waves. There are two kinds of voice coils and they are single voice coil and dual voice coil. The main difference between the two is the wiring options. Dual voice coil provides a greater degree of versatility for wiring and also increases the performance of the amplifier. Overall, there is no difference in the performance or efficiency of the car subwoofer and users can choose either of the two voice coil options.

The Element stock subwoofer is a dual voice coil with 2 ohms per coil.
If the sub is wired in parallel, it will give you 1 ohm: bad for your amp because it isn't stable to 1 ohm.
You need to wire the factory sub voice coils in series to give you 4 ohms.
Your amp is stable down to 2 ohms so if at sometime in the future that can be an option and give you more power.

Thank you!

By the way, 125 watts should be plenty for the stock sub, from what I've read.
If I do run the Tang Band woofer (which is 8 ohms)
From what I've read and understand, I can actually run 2 of them in parallell.

And the way that the amp is internally shunted in parallell, I can run each
woofer off it's own lead from the amp.

One other question - and I'm going to measure when it get's day light out, is the
possibility of also running a Kicker sub http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rkSD6B1VIcv/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html

Or simply hang them in the rear corners using something like this - http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/S-IAAOxyaoFSEbwM/s-l500.jpg

Preliminary quick measurements show that the Kicker Sub - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rkSD6B1VIcv/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html

WILL FIT with plenty of room to spare. It is a self-amplified 150 watt 8" woofer.

Looks like PLENTY of room in the pass. side rear most storage bin in back.

MIGHT have to do a little shaving length-wise (VERY LITTLE) should be able to get it in with no mods? - but otherwise, it is good to go.

Lot's of room, LOT"S of airflow. Lose a tiny bit of storage space.

Crutchfield - $249
Amazon - $217
