Are you staying on the American side ?? If not you will need passports for all!

I like the other side the best> ( Table rock for lunch ) Is fantastic! The price is fair, and the food is outstanding!

As for what's to do. OMG There is Just no one place to start.

OH If you do stay on the American side, Keep a sharp Eye on the Kids !!

nice pictures.
we would love to hit both sides.

we were informed that we do not need passports for ground travel.. only air for now. will do further research on that. thanks for the heads up.

the kids would like the tower in Niagra, the falls, table rock and the boat under the falls. i have never been to the falls, and at 40 y/o i figure it's time to check it out. i just want an excuse to drive the E 8 hours one way.. :)

any suggestions on good lodging US side? nice, clean and cheap. anywhere within 45 minutes. an indoor pool would be a huge plus... and WiFi !!

Visitors to Canada

Canadian and U.S. citizens travelling by car do not need a passport to cross the border.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) is a new U.S. law that will require all travellers, including Canadians, to carry a valid passport or other appropriate secure document when travelling to the United States from within the western hemisphere.

This is a change from prior travel requirements.

In order to continue to be able to travel to the United States by air after January 23, 2007, travellers are advised to have a valid passport.

Well someone had better tell them at the US customs ! They Told us that they are needed to return to the US by car! I will send them another E-Mail. I cant find the reply they sent me last month. I'll post the reply when I receive it!

This is from there web site ! It shows 2008 as the deadline, However they told me in an E-Mail it Will be in force by Jan. of 2007 !!!!!

* As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons*, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

*Lawful permanent residents (LPRs), refugees, and asylees will continue to be able to use their Alien Registration Card (Form I-551), issued by DHS, or other valid evidence of permanent residence status or refugee or asylee status to apply for entry to the United States.

i'm from buffalo, the US side is pretty weak. go to the canadian side and depending on the season there is a tram system that takes you up and down the river to the butterfly gardens and all of the rose gardens and such. there's plenty of stuff to do, night life is fun on clifton hill with the haunted houses and enough for all ages to be occupied. and again, the US side is not as nice and anyone who says different is lying. any other specifics feel free to pm me if you want b/c my whole family still lives there.

Unless things have changed in the last seven years (and it stands to reason that they might have), no passport is needed. I grew up in Northern Ohio, and so we used to go up there to drink when we were 19 and 20 because it's legal to do so at 19. Never used a passport.

However, do NOT screw with the customs guys. I once spent seven hours in a locked room because my friend made a joke about smuggling herion. They checked. Everything. Twice.

US side is a dump. Go to the Canadian side. Much much nicer.

Last time (first time) I went I stayed on the US side. I rode my bike across the Rainbow Bridge to Niagara on the Lake on the bike path next to the george. After that ride, I wish I had stayed on the Canadian side.

Between the fall and Niagara on the Lake, there is the botanical garden, tram ride, nice little town(s), etc.

interesting stuff.
i would have stayed on the US side, but after reading all of this.. it will be Canadian side.

i am still reading all of the tourism sites.

my wife wants to put off the trip until summer, due to the fact that the Mist Ferry doesn't run this time of year. she wants to take that ride.

now i need a new destination for the 19-23rd of february.

anyone know of any good snow tubing places in NY, PA. that are open now????
