i have been looking for the key code most of today and i cant seem to find it
does someone know where is the key code on the tail gate area.

or does anyone have a picture of where it is at or know where i can find one.
it would help in the search for just a few simple numbers.

i already called the dealership and they said it is going to cost money.
anywhere bewteen 25-125 :-o.
it just depends on the tools they use and the time.

They actual code is only located on the lock cylinders. There isn't a sticker on the vehicle itself. Any dealer can get your key code from Honda using your VIN number. Some may charge for it. But the whole process only takes a couple of minutes to retreive the code.

If you were the original buyer of the car, you should have gotten a tag with your keys with the key code. It's a five or six character alpha-numeric code that a dealer can use to look up the actual cuts to make a key.

I'm guessing you're either a second owner or have lost that tag. If that's the case, it's like others here have said. Go to a dealer with proof that you own the car, and they should have no issues pulling the codes and making a key for you. Be prepared to pay dearly for the privilege, as our keys from a dealer are usually well over $100.

im the third owner. according to carfax history report.
but you can really just say second because the first one owner of the car had it for like 2 months and drove it 3000 miles before getting rid of it.

but yeah i didnt feel like paying 100.00+ bucks on one metal key.

EOC member Locksmith helped me find the key code. and is mailing me my key for 25.00 bucks which is a pretty good price.
since i wont ever have to call a locksmith to let me in my car again.
:D

and maybe i could teach the dealership what the key is to since they dont make them for 05 elements

Its a good price, but it can't be programed to start your car. I assuming
you knew this, because Locksmith know his stuff. What I'm surprised is
how a Honda dealer can function not knowing how to make a key for any
current Honda, how third world.
I guess he is sending you what we call a practice key, the ones we give
newbie parts peoples so they won't hack up $50+ key blanks to learn.
I'm glade you got what you needed.

On your locking glove compartment use a small Phillips head screwdriver take the lock out.... look on the right side a block and it will be on X or a y with 4 numbers those are your key code for your vehicle
