Now that we're significantly past the point where this matters, I'll throw in that the wife and I just got 4 GB 2nd Gen nanos. She got the blue one, and I got the silver one (to match my SSM E). These are our first real MP3 players, and we're all kinds of excited about them.

What a difference 3.5 years makes! Or should I be saying 3.5 Element Years? This thread is three pages long, and no iPod bashing yet!? WTF?

Heh - coincidentally, my gen 2 20 gig iPod is more than 3.5 years old now, and still going strong on it's original battery. But I guess the "to-iPod-or-not" conundrum is over now. Gosh, Apple isn't "evil" after all!?

I've got a 2nd gen. Nano, 8 GB--the black one. I like it a lot.

Found out when I went to purchase it that they only make the 8GB's in black, not the other colors. FYI.

I like it, and I haven't come close to filling it (yet). I got my wife a 1 GB Samsung last year. She's not much of a music fan so I didn't think she'd fill it. Wrong!

4g ipod Nano

I have had my ipod Nano 4GB for a year or so.
I usually do NOT like Apple products.
Gotta say I still like this device and its form factor and memory are about perfect IMHO.
I plug it into the Element through a Sik Imp adapter when I want really good sound and charging.
I covered ours with PDA display protector to avoid scratching AND bought a case for mine that looks like a chunk of mtn bike tire(rugged and I am a mtn biker) and a nice clear jewel case for my wife's Nano. Neither has a single scratch and they still look great.

It sure is nice not to have to grab a pile of CD's to get music on the go!

I just picked up one of the SE Red 4gb nano players and I am really pleased with the form factor. I've had a 1st gen shuffle, a 1gb nano and now this one.

I'm still trying to find an intelligent and functional car mounting method for what is a tiny and slippery little item. At the moment I am considering converting the packaging it came in into a holder.

For workouts I just use a big'ole rubber armband cuz I just want the thing strapped to me with whatever I can get. The holder weighs 4 or 5 times what the iPod does lol.

ipod nano 1 year and going strong

I have a black 4gig nano. Awesome, bought a cool flexible arm that holds it near the sterio and charges and provides a port for connection to sterio. Only problem encountered was it started playing vocals over other instruments, sort of like compressing sound waves, or changing levels. Really weird the only music that sounded normal was Crystal Method or White Zombie. Went online and it took 10 seconds to fix. Loving my ipod.
thanks Josh

I'm looking for two of you who have iPod nano. Please post a reply here if you do have one and how you like it.
Jean has the 2gb Nano, and she loves it. She had some other cheap thing prior, and the Nano is a huge difference she says. I have the 60gb video ipod and I use it all the time.

I'm trying to sort through searches and information about MP3 players, and I've got a quick question as the FAQ no longer seems to have it, either.

Can I use a Nano, or any Ipod for that matter, in the Aux input of the 2005 Element? I tried to ask the question at me dealership, and I got a circuitous answer about the 2005 not providing a power supply to the Ipod.

It seems there are adapters that are mentioned, ie SLK, or a Belkin, or maybe two separate adapters. One for power supply, and one for input?

Sorry for the newbie question. I'm not opposed to a Sandisk or an Ipod, but I'm finding my CD collection more and more cumbersome. I want to finally take advantage of these nifty items.

Yes, you would have to get a 1/8 th minijack cable, and connect it through the heaphone jack of the IPod.

depends....

Assuming the 2005 and 2003 are the same Aux input....

Yes, you can just buy a couple dollar male-male patch cable from Radio Shuck or wherever and plug into the headphone output.

BUT, you will get a higher quality sound AND keep your nano charged up if you use one of the adapters that tap into the docking connector for the sound. Belkin or Sik Imp to mention two brands.

Read the reviews of the adapters. Some have some serious issues. Even within Belkin there are some good and some bad adapters. I ended up with a simple Sik Imp myself

LOTS of good info on ipods over on the ilounge forums.
