Help: Spark Plugs

Hey Guys! I'm new to the forums but have had my E since 2006.

I'm planning on changing my spark plugs next week. Is there a difference besides packaging between NGK # IZFR6K11 from a Honda dealership and from an auto parts store like Advance Auto or Pepboys?

The price difference in about 10$ per plug. I want to stay with OEM and avoid buying from the dealership.

What do yall think? Thanks!

It's the same part number, same brand. If you can find it for less, Post who's got them!

Other members will also use that source for the plugs.

I would stay with the OEM NGK's. I got mine online @partsamerica.com for less than 10 bucks each. Since I ordered other stuff too I got free shipping. I have beeen happy with their replacement parts so far. I also order stuff for the Bride's Infinity from there and have had excellent results. Way better pricing than the dealership.

NGK IZFR6K-11

Advance/PartsAmerica: $9.99 each
Pep Boys: $10
Majestic: $12.66
Auto Zone: $12.99
Honda Parts Now: $13.02
Bernardi: $13.24
HondaPartsDeals: $13.45
H and A: $13.56

Note that this plug is also stocked as part #6994.
Great post! I have an advance auto parts next to my house, and saw the 9.99$ when I started the thread. Since the consensus is the plugs are the same whether they come from the dealership or some third party, I'll be getting mine from advance auto parts.

My honda stealership sells them for $20+ a piece...what a rip.

its about time to change out mine too..i will definitely go with ngk.:)

compression washers on NGK plugs

Just replaced my plugs at 170000km. NGK. Dramatic improvement in fuel consumption. Should have done this sooner. No anti-seize when I replaced the plugs, is it important to get new compression washers for the plugs if I pull them again to put on the anti-seize?

I would not worry about it. They were not anti-sized from the factory. Did you have trouble removing them after 170,000 Km ?

No ? So what's the big deal.

The thing that most people do wrong, is over tighten the plug in the first place. Then with the carbon buildup on the exposed threads over time, they snap them off. If you installed them to spec. your all set.

Trying the E3's

After cruising all the posts on spark plugs, I decided to give the E3's a shot. I picked them up at Pep Boys today for $5.99 a piece... however, the parts clerk only rang up ONE so I got the remaining 3 free. Hey if they wind up not being to my taste, I'm only out six bucks.

I'm planning on installing them tomorrow. I'll post my observations/results as soon as possible.

Thanks for the help... Cheers!
