Our friends from corecases.com have given us some of their new iPod nano cases to pass around to our friends on our forums. funkbucket and ann54 - if you'd like one for your nano, please email me (tom at elementownersclub.com) and let me know your address and information so I can send these out to you.

Thanks! And special thanks to Corey and the crew at CORE CASES as well.

DOH! I just saw the latest reply....oh well, here's my review. =D
************************************************

I have a 4GB black ipod nano. First generation. Works great and it's very well integrated with iTunes. I use it for cycling (the stopwatch function is very useful) and for running (with the Nike+ system). The touch pad is also very intuitive and it's large enough so someone like me with big fingers has absolutely no problem with it.

In my E, I use it with a Kensington charger that also doubles as a direct audio input into my aftermarket headunit. This way my ipod is always charged if I ever take it out of the E and I don't have to worry about battery life on long trips. If you want to integrate your ipod into your E's stereo, a direct audio input is the only way to go. You can do FM transmitter or some other method, but sound quality will not be at its best.

Bad things about it is that it scratches easily and chips easily if dropped. You know how it is with portable electronics...you always drop them. However, I think this has been addressed with the second generation of nanos being sold now.

Sound quality wise, it suits my needs. You'll read reviews that say other DAPs (digital audio players) have better embedded software/hardware that produce better sound quality...but for the masses it'll be more than satisfactory.

Well, I know that I can't win anything :-( But my wife and I each have 2gig nano's, one black one white. I got silicon "cases" for both on ebay for next to nothing. They are just stretchy rubber like sleeves that protect the nano. They also have a slit in the back that you can put an armband through. I am really happy with the nano, it is my first real mp3 player and I use it a lot for working out, listening to at work, or while I am driving. The batteries drop pretty quick but that was expected.

I've got a 1st generation 10-gig iPod that goes with me all the time.
It holds my music (and books) plus calendar and address book.

I've got all kinds of connectors for the it i.e.: cassette adapter and FM transmitter, etc. I was using the headphone jack to plug into the "E" until someone on this forum suggested a SLK connector which I now use exclusively.

I've got Bose headphones that I use when I'm flying or mowing the yard.

They do scratch easily. I have a case but it is time to replace with a new one .... and get a ProClip.

My 6th grade son wants a Black Nano for Christmas. Which he'll probably get.

I have a first generation 4gb Nano, and a third generation regular 40gb iPod. Love them both, but the Nano is all I need.

I also happen to have a CoreCase since the 1G Nano scratches the first time anyone lays their eyes on it. I love the CoreCase. I compared a ton of cases, and the CoreCase was hands down the nicest.

I just bought a green 2ndG 4gb Nano, and I love it.....but as I posted on the forum earlier, I could not find a decent case for the 2nd Gen anywhere.

Is this case for the 2nd G nano's?

I have a 3rd gen 15 gig Ipod but more to the point, I now have a 2nd gen 8 Gig Nano and I have no complaints.

Its small, battery life is excellent and as its black it looks good inside my E

Now that we're significantly past the point where this matters, I'll throw in that the wife and I just got 4 GB 2nd Gen nanos. She got the blue one, and I got the silver one (to match my SSM E). These are our first real MP3 players, and we're all kinds of excited about them.

What a difference 3.5 years makes! Or should I be saying 3.5 Element Years? This thread is three pages long, and no iPod bashing yet!? WTF?

Heh - coincidentally, my gen 2 20 gig iPod is more than 3.5 years old now, and still going strong on it's original battery. But I guess the "to-iPod-or-not" conundrum is over now. Gosh, Apple isn't "evil" after all!?

I've got a 2nd gen. Nano, 8 GB--the black one. I like it a lot.

Found out when I went to purchase it that they only make the 8GB's in black, not the other colors. FYI.

I like it, and I haven't come close to filling it (yet). I got my wife a 1 GB Samsung last year. She's not much of a music fan so I didn't think she'd fill it. Wrong!

4g ipod Nano

I have had my ipod Nano 4GB for a year or so.
I usually do NOT like Apple products.
Gotta say I still like this device and its form factor and memory are about perfect IMHO.
I plug it into the Element through a Sik Imp adapter when I want really good sound and charging.
I covered ours with PDA display protector to avoid scratching AND bought a case for mine that looks like a chunk of mtn bike tire(rugged and I am a mtn biker) and a nice clear jewel case for my wife's Nano. Neither has a single scratch and they still look great.

It sure is nice not to have to grab a pile of CD's to get music on the go!

I just picked up one of the SE Red 4gb nano players and I am really pleased with the form factor. I've had a 1st gen shuffle, a 1gb nano and now this one.

I'm still trying to find an intelligent and functional car mounting method for what is a tiny and slippery little item. At the moment I am considering converting the packaging it came in into a holder.

For workouts I just use a big'ole rubber armband cuz I just want the thing strapped to me with whatever I can get. The holder weighs 4 or 5 times what the iPod does lol.
