If you're that serious about doing electrical mods you should get a copy of the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual even if you buy it brand new from Helms it's only about $50.00.

As for the rear wiper, yes you could do that; however, it's a tad more involved than you might think. The rear wiper is already 'fixed intermittent' by a controller located in the left rear quarter panel. You would have to either modify or by-pass that.

I did not disassemble the pilot switch, but did 'twist the knob' before I installed it, it felt like a simple rheostat with indentions - but yes, it could easily have been a decade resistor network - (not that there's a whale of a lot of difference - other than price). The range went from about 1.5 ohms to either 25k or 35k (I don't remember exactly) between pins 9 and 10 of the switch.

Again, get the ETM, it has the entire electrical system of the Element, you can find them on E-bay now and then for less, but honestly for $50.00 it's worth getting it from Helms. No one who is seriously considering any real modifications to the electrical system should be without it.

If you're considering 'stamps' remember, the majority of the members are not EE's or even electronics novices. I totally understand the unlimited possibilities of programmable controls - (that's what I do for a living) - but remember your audience... KISS (keep it simple stupid) goes a long way when posting any modifications for the general public.

So now that this is standard on the 09 Element can someone at a dealer with a parts book give us the part numbers for the new switch and harness? Thanks in advance. Drew:)

From what I saw the wiper switch is different than the pilot's switch. I noticed (or at least I thought I did) that the intermittent setting is reversed from the pilot's. Also, the Element switch is in the $70.00 range where the Pilot switch is half that amount.

I didn't look at the harness, and now I'm still looking for the link to the parts...

From the 2009 Element Owners Manual page 70:

For half the money, I can deal with the slow/fast adjustment being different. Honestly, I don't see why Honda didn't use the same part... wouldn't that have been more cost effective?? :|

OK, done!

First, the pigtail that goes in the wiper switch connector is close to the one I previously identified as A:

There are differences. In each of the three images below, the OEM connector is at left and the "A" pigtail (sorry, no Honda part number yet) is at right.

The "A" pigtail, which FWIW came with a dark green wire, has a small barb that I had to file off to get it into the slot. It also has a much thicker crimp at the bottom which prevents it from seating fully; I had to carefully smush that crimp in a small vise. Once those little mods were out of the way, the pigtails fit into the connector with a bit of persuasion, and work just great.

The pigtail that fits in the UDFRB's X connector is the one previously identified as "B," and came with a blue wire. It is an exact match!

Seems to be an opportunity here for one of our Honda parts sources (H and A, etc.) to do the leg work here and put together a little package of the switch and the 4 correct connection pins. I would definitely be interested and don't think I'm alone.

Anybody out there?

Just got a package of connectors for the door-lock switch (04321-SR3-306) and two packages of pigtails. The pigtails match those that go to the wiper switch connector! The pigtails are part numbers 04320-SP0-A00 and 04320-SP0-B00, the only difference being the thickness of the wire. Either will work. See for yourself:

OEM at left, 04320-SP0-B00 at right. Slight differences in camera angles.

As for the pigtail for the X connector, no idea. But we're halfway there.

Not sure whether this helps, but I found three more pigtail/sub-cord (don't know what the difference is) numbers listed for the Element: 04320-SP0-D00, 04320-SP0-F00, and 04320-SP0-N00. There are many other pigtails, but they are either listed for other models or no model is specified.

Here's the catch: 04320-SP0-A00 and 04320-SP0-B00, which we know fit the wiper switch connector and the door lock switch connector, are listed for the Accord, Civic, CRX, Del Sol, Fit, Odyssey, Prelude, and S2000, but not the Element. So it's possible that the [edit]X[/edit] connector also takes a pigtail not on the list. But FWIW here's the list of all pigtails known (at the moment) to fit the E:

04320-S5A-A00
04320-SP0-D00
04320-SP0-F00
04320-SP0-G10
04320-SP0-K10
04320-SP0-N00
04320-SP0-N10
04320-SP0-R00
04320-SP0-S00
04320-SP0-T00
04320-SP0-U10

Meanwhile, these pigtails, though not specified for the Element, seem to have 0.5mm wires (none of those above do), which the pigtails that fit in the [edit]X[/edit] connector had:

04320-SAA-A00
04320-SJD-A00
04320-SP0-A00
04320-SP0-A10
04320-SP0-C00
04320-SP0-E00
04320-SP0-F10
04320-SP0-G00
04320-SP0-J10
04320-SP0-M10
04320-SP0-S00
04320-SP0-T10
04320-SP0-V10
04320-SP0-X10
04320-SP0-Y00
04320-SP0-Y10
04320-SJC-A00
04320-SP0-B10

There are too parts here for anyone to just buy them all, but if an enterprising counterman is willing to compare a bunch of parts to the [edit]X[/edit] connector pigtail (below), we might just nail this down.

Dan, did the pigtails I sent you not work? Or are you guys just trying to find the OEM part number to make this easier for folks in the future?
