Looking to buy a project car sometime in the near future. I'm thinking either a 60's/early 70's muscle or an early/mid 90's import. Just curious to see what other e owners are working on. So whatcha got?

I used yto have an old 91 Pathfinder 4-door that I was going to do up into an off-roading beast. I had a stacked 4-inch and 3-inch suspension lift and a 3-inch body lift. I got a bit crazy one day and decided to lop the rear section of the roof off, replaced the cargo area carpet with spray on bedliner. I konda made my own smaller version of an avalanche. I had to get rid of it as my parents said that monstrosity could no longer take up any space in tehir drive way (no room for it at my apartment). When I sold it, the guy who bought wanted a project to build an off-road monster, and decided my unfinished project was perfect for him to complete. My next project will be a nissan hardbody pickup to build a nice lowrider.

I used to have a 1972 Porche 914. I had to eventually sell it, the 914 was becoming a money pit and I was only making a little over minimum wage working at Target.

Maybe in the near future a '69 or older VW Bug.

-EFI eliminated in favour of Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and carb
-custom built headers (in progress)
-4-runner seats
the list of smaller things goes on and on but thats the bulk of it.

1965 Mustang. My first car...."finished" in 1989 but needs to be redone now.

1966 VW Double Cab pickup (transporter). Needs lots of work but has been a memberof the family for years (my parents drove me home from the hospital in it after I was born!)

1952 MG-TD needs more work than the VW I think! Dad bought it for me as a 1st birthday present. Me and my boy will someday get it all fixed up nice...I hope!

Various bikes....but no real "projects" among them. The Aprilia is a nice daily rider, the KLR is crappy (but I like it that way), and the Buell is just about as perfect as it can be....just needs to be ridden more!

Looks like some of you guys have some pretty cool stuff going on there. The VW's got me thinkng, do any of you have dune buggies/sand rails?

2002 Ford Th!nk Neighbor Wagon. It's a small electric car.

It was my daily driver when I was living in the SF Bay area, but Illinois has very odd laws about such vehicles. So I'm having to mod it to meet mandatory equipment requirements before I can legally put it on the road. Good thing I can still keep the California registration current from 2000 miles away.

A sub-project with this car is adding solar panels to it. I have all the bits to do it and have had them for a while, but now I don't have the time.

I have been searchiing for a 73-78 Civic hatch....they are not very easy to find around here in any condition....i have found a few online but decent ones are going for insane prices.

We have a 78 Civic in our showroom..I drove it a few times and would love to have one to fart around town with on weekends.

Sand Chariots Ocelot II dune buggy on a shortened 1962 Beetle pan. I'm trying to find the time and money to continue working on it though.

The purple buggy below (that I sold roughly 3 years ago) is a Sandwinder II/California Clipper body on a shortened 1968 Beetle chassis.

Every time you buy something for it, it's a Hundred Dollars. :)

As new & then as current:
Oooo. Nice. I like what you've done to it.

I know what you mean by the "Hundred Dollars" thing - H-D's are a popular pastime in our rural town, and the local hardware store accordingly has a big selection of chromed nuts and bolts. But I find it tough to stomach $8-10 for a 5/16" cap nut. Ouch.

I am one of those 'Bahh Humbug" guys who has no use for HD... I think it is an overpriced toy..., a cult, a culture, a..???
For a joy ride I would really like a Honda Valkyrie... 1500 ccm flat six in the bottom, low CG and winding smooth like a turbine... ...and still plenty of torque!! I could collect all kinds of bugs with my teeth. :)

You HD is nice, pleas don't get me wrong, I would not want to discount your joy....

Did you know that Porsche of Zuffenhausen, Germany is doing all the engine engineering since the EVO engine. That is one pretty cool aspect.... You may actually own a Porsche and not even have it declared as such... :)

I have a 1995 BMW 318ti, extensively modded with all original BMW parts, including an 3.0L M3 motor. Nearly every part of this car has been breathed on at some point. Enough breathing in fact to have it take 1st place this past weekend at the largest north American BMW gathering, Bimmerfest, in Santa Barbara, CA. 1st place in the "stock" category (the other two categories were classic and modified) out of approximately 1500 BMWs at the event.

Well...right now I'd consider my 3rd Gen '89 Prelude my "project car" but seeing as how its holding up some lawn furniture padding and some, yet to be used wedding gifts from last year...I wont post any pics :D . So many shoulda-coulda-woulda's with this car, we'll just call it my Work In Progress...(WIP'ed for all you married folk)

(short) list of mods:
Weapon-R V2 Hyper short ram intake, 16" Konig Divas, Yokohama rubber, (old) Eclipse HU, 2 Pioneer Premier amps for a total of 1000 rms, 1 farad capacitor w/voltage display, 2-10" Crossfire CF2 subs, 6.5" Kicker components(amp'd/front), 6.5" Alpine 2-ways(un-amp'd/rear)
Custom items that came with the car:
blow-by on piston rings, busted power antenna, leaky sunroof when parked tail-downhill.... and the ability to lift the inside rear tire when cornering hard at Solo 2 track days hosted by SCCA...

So...'til that gets reborn, hopefully this year, I'll just bide my time on my E. Check my signature for mods on that...but here're some before and after shots, once some things were done..

Before: Just cleared headlights and new rubber..

After: Wheels, deflectors, EOC decal....yadda yadda yadda

oh man, that thing is sweet. What kinda shape was she in origionally? Anything to look out for if i seriously start shopping for one?
LOL, thanks!

Here's what she looked like originally, a 135HP NA with faded paint:

http://blue-sun.net/Details/MR2Detail/MR2Detail.html <--- day that I bought her

http://blue-sun.net/Details/DiamondCut/DiamondCut.html <--- day that I stared the paint transformation

http://blue-sun.net/Details/DiamondCut2/DiamondCut2.html <--- 2nd day of transformation

http://blue-sun.net/Details/DC_DACP_NXT/DC_DACP_NXT.html <--- day 3 of transformation

As for known issues with the MR2's, there's no 1 thing that really stands out to look for. Get the car thouroughly checked out by a shop, etc and enjoy!

1972 Mercedes 280 SEL. This was my mom's car. The mechanical work has all been done, body work and interior are next. In this lifetime, I hope.:)
